Children’s Ministry

At St. Dunstan of Canterbury, our Children’s Ministry is at the heart of our commitment to nurturing young hearts in faith, joy, and community. Here, we believe that children are not only the future of the church but also its present, vibrant members, filled with questions, wonder, and boundless creativity. Our ministry provides safe, welcoming spaces for them to explore their faith, ask questions, and experience God’s love through interactive, age-appropriate teachings and activities.

Sunday School: A Journey of Discovery and Faith

Our Sunday School program, offered each Sunday during worship, provides children with a grounding in biblical stories, values, and teachings in a way that is meaningful and engaging. Led by dedicated volunteers, the program follows a carefully chosen curriculum that brings scripture to life with lessons designed for children of all ages. Through storytelling, crafts, songs, and guided discussions, we encourage children to see God’s hand in their daily lives and learn how to live out their faith in real, practical ways. The Sunday School program is more than just a class; it is a community where children build friendships, explore their own questions about God, and experience the deep love and grace at the core of the Christian faith.

Each child is encouraged to bring their unique insights and gifts, creating a learning environment that is inclusive and affirming. Our dedicated team of teachers work with children to help them grow in compassion, empathy, and understanding, laying the foundation for a life of faith that will continue to grow with them.

Messy Church: Celebrating Creativity and Community

In addition to our Sunday School, we offer Messy Church, an alternative gathering for families to encounter God’s love through a creative, hands-on approach. Messy Church is held on a regular basis and provides a place for families to come together in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. Each gathering focuses on a different theme, such as a Bible story, a celebration of God’s creation, or a Christian holiday, and is centered on activities, crafts, games, and shared meals.

Messy Church is designed to be a multigenerational experience, welcoming children of all ages, parents, grandparents, and anyone who seeks to explore faith in a fresh and accessible way. Here, we encourage kids to ask questions, experiment with new ideas, and express their faith through creativity and play. Each session begins with a time of activity, where children and their families can explore various stations focused on art, science, nature, and storytelling, followed by a short time of celebration and song, and ends with a meal shared around the table, reminding us of the community and togetherness that Jesus so often celebrated with his disciples.

Growing Together in Faith

Whether through Sunday School or Messy Church, our Children’s Ministry is a vibrant part of life at St. Dunstan’s, a place where faith comes alive in colorful, joy-filled ways. We welcome families of all backgrounds to join us as we grow together in faith, laughter, and community. Our ministry’s goal is simple: to plant seeds of faith that will flourish throughout a lifetime, helping children know that they are loved by God, called to follow Christ, and embraced by a community that celebrates and supports them every step of the way.
